What to do with a Loose Tooth

It can be both an exciting and scary time for little ones when their teeth begin to wiggle.  What do you do when your child has a loose tooth?  We suggest educate and celebrate!

1.  When your child gets their first loose tooth, it’s a good time to remind them of the importance of Dental Hygiene.  Remind them that they are now getting their permanent teeth or forever teeth.  Encourage them to brush for 2 minutes in the morning and before bed – and don’t forget to floss between the teeth!

2.  Is it okay for your little one to wiggle and constantly play with a loose tooth?  The answer is… YES!  Let them wiggle away!

3.  Celebrate!  Find fun ways to celebrate this milestone in their life.  There are lots of great tips to encourage a visit from the Tooth Fairy.  Here are a few that we found that are fun…

Fun ideas for the Tooth Fairy!

1. Create “special” Tooth Fairy Currency.  Paint quarters a shiny gold or cover with gold glitter.

2. Of course, a dollar from the tooth fairy has to have some sparkle.  Use glitter hairspray to add some sparkle to George.

3. A Tooth Fairy Pillow hung on a bedroom door helps those Tooth Fairies that are afraid of waking the lil’ ones at night.

4. Make a Tooth Fairy Jar and set it by a window.  Have your child put the Tooth in plain water.  Color the water with food coloring and add some glitter, once the Tooth Fairy has visited and retrieved the tooth.
