How to Deal With Dental Phobia

Do you find yourself looking for any excuse to avoid the dentist?  Many people suffer from some extent of dental phobia and the root of this fear may be different for each individual.

One of the most important steps for those who have dental phobia is to identify your fear and let your dental provider know about it -  it really helps if you can say what you are afraid of, or even make suggestions as to what your dentist might be able to do to help you with your fears.

Another important step is to find a provider that is sensitive to your phobia and is willing to work with you as an active partner in overcoming your fear.  Your dental health is a major component of your overall well-being.  We at Krusich Dental want to help our patients with dental phobia ease their fears, feel well taken care of and be comfortable during their dental visits.

Please handle me with care is a form that you can use to help identify and share your concerns with Dr. Krusich.

Here are some steps to overcoming fear:

Identify your fear and get ready to face it.

Be firm and positive towards your goal.  Sometimes achieving a target looks impossible only until we have reached it.

Plan a gradual approach towards your problem. Your phobia is not a new fear or a one time fear. It has been growing with you and could take some time to have a good effect on you.

Celebrate your success on each step and don’t get discouraged by failures.
